Who can resist making their own movie. I started storyboarding a script for Space Rat, in 2002/03 inspired by the first Ice Age trailer from Blue Sky Studios. and Warner Brothers cartoons. My film is conceived to be similar to both, in the use of a small character against a large desolate backdrop, and humor that does not rely on dialogue.
This represents the kind of compositing that I am interested in. Effects layered with animation. Coordinated layering, and passes that give you a lot of control in the compositing program. This shot was composited in Combustion, using Combustion for the fire as well.
The style crept into something more accurate to reality though, and I continued to be more interested in exploring realistic effects, particles, explosions, etc, through this story. Spacerat is a film now awaiting revival, as life and other projects have taken the limelight.
